CGTN Documentary (channel name: CGTN Documentary) is an English channel mainly broadcasting documentaries. It was launched on December 31, 2016.
On January 1, 2011, at 8:00 AM, the channel officially launched.
On January 7, 2014, the HD version of the channel was officially launched; On January 13, it settled in Radio Television Hong Kong.
On 2 April 2016, Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) took over the spectrum of the former Asia Television International and continued to retransmit the channel with an analogue TV channel 33A, which was broadcast in letterbox mode. On September 1, the channel officially realized high and standard definition broadcasting. On Dec. 31, CCTV launched its China Global Television Network (CGTN), an English-language Documentary channel renamed CGTN Documentary.
